Pastor Sonya will walk 200 miles during the season of Lent. If you would like to sponsor her (either per mile or flat donation), please sign the Lenten walk clipboard at the church. You can put a check made payable to the church with “Lent walk” in memo line and place it in the offering plate. In addition, you can make an online donation by going the main page of our website (www.stjohnslutheranwinchester.org) and click on the green GIVE button and just follow the instructions and input your information. Make sure to select “To”, then scroll down and select “Special – Lent Walk”. All monies will benefit the discretionary fund (its only fundraiser) at St. John’s.

Your Virginia Synod Lutheran Youth Organization Board is piloting a new event this year, which will take the place of the Youth Assembly in years when the Synod Assembly is not held. "Summit" is an opportunity for select youth in grades 7-12 from around the Virginia Synod to gather for fellowship and conversation about the life and work of the church beyond their congregations, and to contribute to the planning and oversight of the Synod's Ministry with Youth and Young Adults. It will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, 8:00 a.m. - Saturday, April 25, 2026, 3:00 p.m. at Epiphany, Richmond. The cost will be $35.
What will happen: We will spend time singing and worshiping together … listening, discussing, and asking questions about the various ministries of the church … providing evaluation and input on the synod’s youth ministry … bringing our own concerns about life and the world to discuss … contributing to the revised structure of synod youth ministry oversight that is taking shape. PLUS: we will have meals together and enjoy some great fellowship time with old and new friends from around the Virginia Synod! How does someone attend this event? Fill out the online interest form for “Synod Youth Summit.” It will go to the Synod office and your conference Dean, who will follow up with you on the details of completing your registration. Several weeks before the event, you will receive a confirmation of registration and a list of what to bring. For the first time at this event, we are estimating five (5) youth per conference, but if there are many more who want to attend, please let Dave Delaney know in the Synod office, and we will see if more can be admitted. And, as always, if you have questions, also contact Dave ([email protected]). For more information, click the link below and complete the interest form by April 6, 2026.
