Update on "Bibles for Our Troops" - To date, we've collected $250 which equates to 50 Bibles for our Troops overseas. Thank you for your generosity.

Sunday, October 7, 2018 – 3:00 p.m. - Gathering with Bishop Humphrey at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, Virginia - All are welcome to attend. Please contact Pastor Sonya with any questions you may have.

To date, we have been able to donate over $1,340 to community members in need, disaster relief, and our local fire department. Thank you for your generosity.

Saturday, Saturday October 20, 2018 – St. John’s Youth Group Meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 12:15 p.m. (See below)

Saturday, October 20, 2018 - 6:00 p.m. - Mocha and a Message - “I believe in God, the Father almighty…” We say it each and every Sunday in the creeds. What exactly do you profess each Sunday in the creed? Come and find out more about the Apostles Creed and hear George Strait’s song “A Father’s Love.” Hope to see you there! Bingo to follow. Sunday, October 21, 2018 – 11:-00 a.m. - Worship - Stewardship Sunday - We need all hands on deck for Stewardship Sunday. Please plan to attend worship and wear your Glow t-shirt (or any other church t-shirt) and bring your sweet tooth

Sunday, October 21, 2018 – 12:15 p.m. - Joint Council meeting after worship at St. John’s (lunch provided)

Sunday, October 21, 2018 – 12:15 p.m. - Youth meeting to be held immediately following worship (upstairs). We will be making cards for Veterans and a light lunch will be served. Everyone (kids, adults, and families) is invited to stay after church for an afternoon of crafting and socializing! If you have any stickers or scrapbooking materials you would like to donate for this activity, bring them to church and drop off with Jenae Jenkins.

Sunday, October 28, 2018 – 11:00 a.m. - Reformation Sunday - Worship with Holy Communion and Rite of Confirmation. Reception following worship.

Sunday, October 28, 2018 - Bowtie Sunday at St. John's - All are invited to wear a bowtie on Sunday, October 28th, in memory of Christopher Saville on his birthday on October 30th. We miss you Chris! A special anthem was played with Christopher's guitar, a special song for both Christopher and the Saville family. Forever in our hearts!

Sunday, October 28, 2018 – 12:15 p.m. Trunk-or-Treat immediately following the reception in the Social Hall honoring the confirmation. - Decorate your trunk for this event as the youth (and the young at heart) will be looking for treats from your trunk.

We collected 291 food items for CCAP in October. Thanks to all for your generous donations.

St. John's Lutheran Church's Silent Auction to Benefit Steeple Fund - 2018

Our silent auction to benefit the St. John’s steeple fund began July 29, 2018 and ran through September 15, 2018. St. John’s Silent Auction team would like to thank everyone who donated and helped with the first auction to benefit the steeple fund. It was an incredible effort by the team and the congregation and all donations were greatly appreciated. Approximately $4,100 was raised for the steeple. Thanks for your generous support!

With Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael having hit the East Coast, please consider giving to Lutheran Disaster Response today. Your gifts ensure that our church will be able to provide help and hope for those whose homes have been devastated or who have been otherwise affected by hurricanes for years to come. 100 percent of your gift goes directly to those in need. Checks may be made payable to “St. John’s Lutheran Church” with “Hurricane Florence” in the memo line. Thank you for your support!

September 2018 - Outreach Project

Our Outreach for the month of September is collecting needed items for the Winchester, Frederick and Clarke SPCA. We’ll be collecting kitty litter, cat treats, cat toys, kitten food, dog treats, dog toys, rope toys, paper towels, laundry detergent, Lysol, bleach, Windex, dish soap, scrubber sponges, towels, blankets and bath mats (these three latter items may be gently used). Please bring your item(s) for the SPCA and place in the dog food can! Please see or email Doug Williams, Tina Clutter or Pastor Sonya with any questions you may have.
